Welcome to the Show (WttS) is an SBS special sitcom which showcases the behind-the-scene story of Inkigayo (The Music Trend), a music program broadcasted live on SBS on every Sunday. As this is a yet another joint venture between JYP Entertainment and SM Entertainment, certainly the leading casts are selected from these two biggest talent management companies in South Korea. Relying on their popularities as artists from well-known KPop groups, these idols attempt to showcase their talents and break into the other branch of the entertainment industry, i.e. acting. Sulli (f(x)) who is the real host of the program, plays a role as one of the three hosts in this 80-minute long sitcom. She is the pretty girl who triggers the conflict between her two fellow hosts, Seul Ong (2AM) and Nichkhun (2PM). Being a star-studded drama, WttS entices viewers with the special appearances of a few familiar faces in the music industry, namely U-Know Yun Ho and Max Chang Min from DBSK/TVXQ. Even IU, a talented singer with rising popularity who is also the real host of the program, is making a cameo in this idol drama. However, because of its lousy storyline and average production quality, WttS fails to put these young talents under the list of talented green actors. It is really disappointing to see Sulli and Seul Ong who have appeared in a number of drama productions before, fail to leave a remarkable impression with their merely passable acting. Nevertheless, just like the other idols in this drama, they still manage to attract viewer’s attention, because of their popularities and pretty faces. It seems that their star power is their real saviour. Luckily, this is only a single episode drama, therefore WttS has no difficulty in retaining its viewers. Its viewer’s rating however, could not be taken into account as it does not reflect its production quality whatsoever. In fact, one episode is enough!
Overall Drama Rating: 5/10
